  “Look, honey,” urged Thorne, pointing behind them.

  A trail of sparkling dust stretched out behind them, like the tail of a comet.

  “What is it?”

  “It’s us. Our essence. My cum and your juices have blended. The magic we’ve made is trailing from us across the sky to show everyone below that we’re mated. Forever.”

  “Does that mean no more thrusterbud fucking?”

  Thorne laughed aloud. “We’ll figure it out, babe. Never fear. Where you and I are concerned, everything’s magic and nothing’s impossible.”

  Persephone, reflecting on the truth of his words, smiled and put her arms around her husband’s neck as they flew home.

  Epilogue

  Phuque, entering from stage left, stares out across the audience .

  “Okay, listen up, you sex-starved readers! If you were expecting some of that classical ‘you-have-but-slumbered-here’ crap, you’re shit out of luck. Fairyland—yeah right. I know what you’re sayin’. You’re sayin’ that’s a load of frog manure. That no one can fly, grow wings or have sex up the ass without a lot of lubes.“

  Phuque glances around angrily, and farts.

  “Well, that pretty much sums up my feelings about you all. You gotta believe something special happened out there with those two. You wanna call it ‘luuuve’ and get all mushy, well that’s fine by me. Just don’t sob all over my chest, it makes my nipples itch. All I’m sayin’ is that you gotta believe in something. Those two did, and look where it got them? Mated, disgustingly happy, and fucking like minks. According to the noises, anyway. And I still find it damn hard to figure that Thorne Leatherdick. Go back to being a cat? Huh. I sooo don’t think so.”

  Phuque leans against column, folds arms and thinks for a moment .

  “Mind you, for a set of bazooms like Persephone’s? Well, yeah, maybe there’s a few things I’d do too. But you know what?”

  Phuque leans forward intently.

  “It’s really all about believing, ain’t it? Believing that if you love someone you can accomplish the impossible. Believing that love is out there somewhere for all of us. Believing in a happy ending. Believing that Fairyland exists someplace, maybe in your heart or your mind. Or maybe even in this story you just finished. And speaking of finished…”

  Phuque turns and levitates off the stage by about three feet .

  “Now that you have, it’s time for me to get the Phuque outta here.”
